Plus there is a letter from Carlisle Cushing, the main character from The Ex-Debutante, that she forced me to post.

Quite frankly, it’s one of those cover your @%#$ letters as far as I’m concerned. You see as soon as she could, Carlisle Wainright Cushing escaped the stifling social confines of Willow Creek, Texas, to forge a new life as a lawyer in Boston. She has never been good with social niceties.

Now, against her will, Carlisle has been dragged back to Texas to head up Willow Creek’s 100th annual debutante ball. The killer lawyer is now hemming dresses and warding off catfights, not to mention dealing with her mother’s latest impending divorce. On top of it all, Carlisle has to figure out how to tell her deeply Southern mother that she is engaged to a Yankee.

Things go from bad to worse and she’s afraid she’ll never get back to Boston, at least with her reputation intact, especially when good ol’ Southern boy Jack Blair shows up on the opposite side of the divorce court, making her wonder if the man is going after her mother in the proceedings, or her given the pesky little fact that she left him three years earlier.

With only three months to transform a motley crew of scruffy teenage rebels into elegant and sophisticated young ladies, Carlisle’s ball looks set to be a night to remember – for all the wrong reasons. And her confrontation with Jack challenges everything she has believed about herself, real love, and what it means to be family.
